Design Systems Designer

Fernbank is an online homeware shop with a design-led brand. We are growing our design team and looking for a Design Systems Designer.

About the role

You will own the design system end to end: components, tokens, documentation and the way other teams contribute to it. This is a hybrid role: two or three days a week in Manchester.

What you will do

• Design and maintain the component library in Figma, in step with the coded components
• Define design tokens for colour, type, spacing and motion across web and mobile
• Write clear usage guidance and examples, and run office hours for product designers
• Review contributions and keep the system accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA)

About you

• Several years of product design, with real ownership of a design system
• Strong Figma skills: variables, variants, auto layout, component properties
• You can talk to engineers about how components are built and versioned
• A good eye for detail and patience for the unglamorous work of consistency

• A salary of £62k to £72k, depending on experience
